SGT develops, manages and operates high performance systems for the most challenging computer applications known. Our experience in Science Data processing for NASA, and the US Geological Survey highlights our capability to support the most demanding information processing, storage, database management, and data delivery systems running today. SGT provides day-to- day operations, software maintenance, and systems engineering for the U.S. Geological Survey Earth Observation and Science (EROS) Data Center in Sioux Falls, SD. The Center houses the world’s largest collection of land imagery, and associated data products, from spacecraft, aircraft and other sources. Satellite data at this facility includes declassified spy satellite images, Landsat 1-7 multispectral images, NASA satellite data from the Terra, Aqua and EO-1 spacecraft, and the Shuttle Imaging Radar C-band (SIR-C) data set. Aircraft images of the U.S. have been acquired through the National Aerial Photography Program (NAPP) and the National High Altitude Photography (NHAP) program. Each of these data sets is typically in the multi-Peta-Byte (1018 Bytes) range. The data are maintained on high performance, hierarchical systems of disk farms, robotic tape archives, and off-line archives. The data are distributed, on demand, to customers including the Earth science research community, commercial users, and national agencies such as the Forest Service, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the Department of Agriculture. Daily distributions are in the Terra-Byte (1015 Bytes) range, with additional requirements imposed by major events such as earthquakes, hurricanes and floods.
